FAQs for CSPs
What do I need to maintain my CSP designation?
In order to maintain the CSPSM designation, CSPs are required to obtain and maintain their own CEUs. The Board of Certified Psychometrists (BCP) will randomly conduct audits requiring proof of CEUs. Those who are audited will be required to submit documentation of having successfully obtained the CEUs to the Board. Failure to provide this information in a timely manner may mean the loss of the CSP designation. Click for specifics
What qualifies as a CEU?
See Renewals document for specifics.
I want to know if a particular seminar/workshop will qualify for the CEUs required to maintain my CSP designation - what is the process for this?
If a course you are considering reports they offer CEUs in the field of Psychometry, psychology, neuropsychology, neurology or a mental health field, those CEUs may qualify for the CSP CEUs.
If you have a course/seminar/workshop you feel is something you want to attend and you are wondering if it will meet the requirements to maintain your CSP designation you need to contact the BCP directly with your inquiry. These questions need to be reviewed by the Board before a determination can be made if the course/seminar/workshop is approved for CSP CEUs. In order to process this request your inquiry must be in writing using the approved BCP CEU Pre-approval Inquiry form. The BCP will then review your inquiry at their next regularly scheduled meeting and reply to your inquiry within 14-days of that meeting via email, fax, phone or mail.
When are certification renewals due?
CSP is the designation conferred for a period of two (2) years upon all who meet the certification requirements. For example, for the 2009 CSPs the deadline ro renew is 12/31/2011. Click on this link for specifics.
Can I get an extension?
A 60-day extension is available beyond the deadline, but incurs a renwal late penalty of $25, for a total of $75. If the CSP has not renewed by the end of 60-days the Psychometrist forfeits their CSP credential.
Before the CSP designation is revoked, the CSP designee will be provided with a notice of the reason for the proposed revocation and an opportunity to explain their position to the BCP and in accordance with such policies as may be established by the BCP. The BCP will attempt to contact the designee based on the contact information available from the application and any available renewal information. Please keep contact information current.
After the extension period has lapsed the Psychometrist is required to meet the current requirements to sit for the exam and pass the current CSP certification exam.
To request an extension, please contact the renewal Chair to request an extension: CSPContactUpdates@PsychometristCertification.org. Please specify your justification for the extension.
